The trio went on stage without anything planned in advance. They collaborated with guest soloists, with minimal rehearsing; making music on the edge. Guest soloists were Dutch trumpet player Eric Vloeimans, Belgian tenor saxophonist Jeroen van Herzeele, German trumpet player Matthias Schriefl and Italian trombonist Gianluca Petrella.
Yesterday on the brink of New Year with front lady Corrie van Binsbergen celebrating her own Brokken Festival in the Bimhuis I heard THE lineup of the year: Corrie herself on guitar, Eric Vloeimans, trumpet, Hein ‘always progressing bass’ Offermans and Yonga Sun, a to me an unknown, young, but phenomenal drummer. A grooving mess, with subtle trumpet whispers by Vloeimans combined with the sharp and sometimes ripping sounds of Corrie’s guitar. A groove you don’t hear, but feel. Inconceivable, unheard of, whirlingly beautiful.’
